My name is Kristina Palen (Ogle) and I am a highly qualified K-8 teacher. I have taught grades 1, 3, and 5 but currently teach Humanities at Priest Elementary in North Las Vegas Nevada. I am very excited to work with the students as we explore technology and strive for learning through the creation of projects, problem solving and dreaming about what is to come in our ever changing world....
My Journey I am from a small town in Southeastern Missouri. I grew up watching the Cardinals play baseball with my three brothers and sister. I went to college at Southeast Missouri State where I earned a BS in Media Communications. After that I took a job as a Creative Services Producer for a CBS affiliate where I wrote and shot many commercials. In 1999 I continued my schooling and went to Webster University to earn my Masters in Media Literacy. I also changed jobs to sell Internet advertising for an Internet magazine aimed at stock day traders. Shortly after the events of September 11, 2001 I found myself searching for employment due to an economic downturn. I began working as a substitute teacher. I really enjoyed working with the students. My sister was a teacher in Clark County School District and was very instrumental in helping me make the decision to return to school to become a teacher. I attended a certification program at Sierra Nevada College and then later completed the CTE (Certificate of Teaching Excellence). I joined CCSD as a teacher in 2004 and have enjoyed working in the elementary classroom ever since. My husband and I were married in February of 2014. We are both teachers. He teaches 6th Grade Writing. We have three children. Jordan is 22 , Samantha is 7 and Nolan is 4. Jordan is a senior in college majoring in music and pre-med. Samantha is in first grade and loves gymnastics and dance. Nolan goes to pre K and enjoys all things candy, Batman and Paw Patrol.
